Music and the Soul

Last night I read a thought-provoking article from the blog Mere Orthodoxy entitled “Music and the Soul“. While I’d love to spend some time with this, I can’t mostly because I’ve not had time to really give this more thought than that I want to think about it (how do you like that…I’ve thought [...]

Last week, I attended our area Classical Conversations Parent Practicum, which was wonderful, by the way. Unlike many attendees, my children did not attend with me. For me, blogging and blog reading provides me with a [...]

Here is a taste of an excellent sermon on today’s gospel reading from StandFirm website contributor Matt Kennedy…
So when Jesus says that if you come to him you must hate your family or you cannot be his disciple, he’s saying, very clearly, that if you are to be his follower, his disciple, you must be [...]

Baby Blue just posted an excellent essay about sacrifice, particularly women who serve their husbands and families with little or no earthly “recognition”. It was written in response to a very distressing post by an Episcopal clergywoman who ridiculed women who chose the high calling of motherhood and wifehood eschewing the world’s version of “fame” [...]
Self-examination

Recently, some online friends and I were discussing how we, as Christians, honestly examine our lives in order to discern our spiritual health. There are the obvious “slips” where we make big mistakes from which we can either choose to repent or we can choose to continue in sin. But, how about the times that [...]
